Kyushu is Japan’s third largest island, located southwest of the main island Honshu. Explore Southern Kyushu and its many sightseeing destinations such as Kumamoto and Kirishima’s hot springs.
The pass can be used on limited express trains of the Kyushu Railway Co., in ordinary reserved and non-reserved seating, and on Kyushu Railway Co. in the designated area for the pass.
Shinkansen: Reserved and non-reserved seats for all Shinkansen (Kumamoto – Kagoshima-chuo) within the covered area, excluding Hakata–Kokura.
Limited Express Trains: Reserved and non-reserved seats within the designated area.
Local Trains: All local trains within the designated area.
Green Cars: Allowed with an additional fee.
Exclusively for non – Japanese passport holders under the entry status of “Temporary Visitor.”
A valid passport must be presented when exchanging the voucher for the pass and during travel.
E-vouchers can be purchased up to 3 months in advance.
E-voucher must be exchanged within three months of the issue date.
The Southern Kyushu Area Rail Pass is available for 3 – days consecutively.
The pass does not guarantee seating.
Unlimited non-reserved seat tickets are available during the validity period.
Reservations can be made at station customer service windows for added convenience.
How to Exchange the E-Voucher:
Exchange the voucher at a designated JR Kyushu exchange office (Oita, Kumamoto, Kagoshima-chuo, Miyazaki, Miyazaki Airport) within 3 months. A copy of the customer’s passport cannot be used to collect a pass.
A valid paper voucher or e-voucher and passport with temporary visa must be presented during exchange.
When exchanging at a designated exchange location in Japan, the customer is required to specify the starting date. The starting date must be within one month from the date of exchange. Once the pass is exchanged the starting date cannot be modified.
Required Items: Passport and E-Voucher
Lost Pass: If the pass is lost, it cannot be reissued, even with a record or a copy of the E-Voucher.
Travel Outside the Pass Area: If a customer takes trains outside the designated area or uses facilities not covered by the pass, additional fees will apply.
